Berlin 1933. Just as the Waldfriede hospital finally begins to operate at full capacity and gains popularity among patients, dark clouds start to gather on the horizon – the Nazis are seizing power in the country. The hospital and its staff suddenly find themselves in the spotlight of the new rulers. Young nurse Lilly cares more about her small defenseless patients and her loved ones than about herself. She has long realized that her feelings for Doctor Rudolph Kirsch have crossed the boundaries of a professional relationship. She suspects that she is not the only one carefully hiding her secret. The times are becoming increasingly ominous, and Lilly is growing more desperate. Should she risk it all and possibly lose what she holds dearest?
