Wales, 1909. When Rhiannon loses her father in a tragic accident, she is left completely destitute and must leave her beloved Nantgarw Valley. Together with her thirteen-year-old stepsister Mair, she sets off to Cardiff, hoping to find refuge with her aunt Florrie, a famous cabaret singer. Both girls suddenly find themselves in an unfamiliar world in the midst of a bustling city full of dangers. Rhiannon meets her fateful love, and the theater completely enchants her. When she steps onto the stage for the first time, it is clear that a new star is born. However, Mair's mother, the prostitute Nellie, unexpectedly appears and takes her daughter with her into the Cardiff underworld.
