Widow and newly retired Nina, who loves literature and her little dog, lives a quiet life in her parents' house with her brother Radek, whom she refuses to understand. She is the mother of a single son who left for Latin America years ago. She only sees him, his wife, and daughter through Skype. Her life changes with the arrival of a new family on the street. She grows closer to their daughter Gábina, but Gábina's father's attempts to buy their house have a negative effect on her. The discord with her brother is further intensified by his agreement to sell. A serious accident involving her son, along with concerns about her own health, brings Nina back many years to a traumatic situation she has never come to terms with. However, Nina must confront a new problem that is more serious than the painful inability to live in her ancestral home...
