Chalupa – Křivánková Pavlína (2023)

There are paths that one does not choose, and people one would rather not meet. Helena's partner is unavailable. Their first child is on the way, and Karl has vanished without a trace. The young woman flees the city to a solitary place in Wallachia, away from people and her mother, who knows exactly how her daughter should live, yet is herself unhappy and lonely. Tereza struggles with an unbearable boss, and on top of that, her husband has withdrawn a large sum from their joint account without her knowledge. As if it weren't enough that she has to deal with a midlife crisis, a stale relationship, and a daughter she doesn't understand. When the police show up at her apartment door, she realizes that something bad has happened. A cruel event will sever the life paths of both women, and their stories will intersect. Each must cope with their fateful loss in their own way. Tereza tries to unravel a stranger's secret while Helena grapples with her own insecurities and dependence on others. Will they find the strength to move on in an unexpected situation? And will they ever be happy again?
