Máša is an infantile thirty-year-old girl who suffers from an eating disorder and, by coincidence, spends the entire summer in Prague. When she finds herself nearly out of money and work, she must make compromising decisions that do not always align with her principles. The main character experiences incredible adventures and situations and discovers the non-touristy side of Prague, which plunges her into the whirlwind of nightlife. In her search for her place in Prague, she meets Ukrainian women who have found their own ways to live, or at least survive, in this city. The book 'New in the City' is a true story about immigration, stripped of stereotypes and excessive romanticization of life abroad. It is a novel about the illusion of a successful life as presented through social media. It is also about the strength of women who must support their families on their own.
