Beschreibung
The fourteen-year-old Elżbieta Rabineková lives under the watchful eye of her adoptive parents in a house near the Warsaw Jewish ghetto. She dislikes Germans because they constantly come up with new regulations and patrol the streets of the city. However, she has never thought much about what happens behind the walls of the ghetto. Everything changes when she befriends a young nurse named Sara. Sara smuggles small children out of the ghetto and helps them find foster families. Elżbieta is determined almost immediately – she wants to help Sara. Thanks to her heroic decision, she meets a Jewish young man named Roman, who has two little siblings. Does their love even stand a chance, or is it doomed from the start?
