Minnie knows two things: that her birthday on New Year's Day is forever accompanied by misfortune, and that Quinn Hamilton, the man she has never met, is to blame for it all. Minnie and Quinn were born on the same day – January 1st – in the same hospital thirty years ago. Not only did he steal the reward for the firstborn child from her and her family, but he also took the name she was supposed to have. Since then, every birthday has been worse than the last. When one day Minnie accidentally runs into Quinn at a New Year's Eve party, she sees that he is indeed a child of fortune. He is attractive, runs a successful business, and has a perfect girlfriend. And even though they come from completely different worlds, something seems to draw them together, and their paths cross more and more often.
