Mafie v Praze – Viewegh Michal (2021)

Summer in the metropolis certainly doesn't look like a cucumber season this time: someone is secretly watching and even physically attacking opposition politicians and civic activists protesting against the planned development of Trojmezí in Prague 11, a beautiful real estate agent named Diana from the financial group Patria is being blackmailed by the Russian mafia, and Interior Minister Stanislav Langross prematurely releases former lobbyist Darek Balík from the witness protection program, who is hiding compromising materials on many Czech politicians in an unknown location (especially the bald head of Deputy Minister of Defense Šesták is sweating more than ever). Journalists from MF DNES suddenly don't know what to write about first, the infamous Prague godfather Mord has to rush back from his yacht in Croatia, and the hitman Ras receives another 'assignment' from his boss in Příbram — thus begins the book of the most popular Czech writer, who, after ten novels, two collections of short stories, three novellas, two diaries, two volumes of essays, two collections of literary parodies, several film scripts, a play, and a fairy tale book, is finally coming out with a detective story. However, as is often the case with this author, this time it is also a reading that is only seemingly relaxing.
