After 8 years, readers are presented with an updated and expanded edition of a very successful publication. Almost all areas covered by the book have undergone significant changes and advancements. The content of the new publication has therefore been modified, with some chapters being substantially more extensive (such as labor management and obstetric surgeries). Completely new chapters have been included – for example, those concerning individual development from a genetic perspective and chapters related to psychology and sociology. The book is not only about study questions – whether for rigorous exams at medical faculties or in the bachelor's program for midwives, it also contains information that goes beyond the scope of knowledge required for certifications. The authors aimed to describe contemporary obstetrics in a medical and societal context.
