The publication presents a modern professional textbook of one of the fundamental fields of medicine. After nine years, it has been completely revised and updated in practically all its parts. This detailed and didactically refined, visually rich textbook will be useful not only for undergraduate students but also for doctors in pre-examination preparation who will be looking for information about physiological processes in the body. The extensive visual documentation is exceptionally valuable, mostly in color – the book contains 530 images and diagrams and 45 tables. The publication continues a long-standing tradition and builds on a series of repeatedly published textbooks by the authorial team of the Department of Physiology, 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. There is currently no comparable domestic textbook on our book market in terms of scope and quality, making it essentially the only modern textbook that fully meets the syllabi of medical physiology at Czech medical faculties.
