In the 20th century and also at the dawn of the 21st century, a long series of textbooks emerges that gradually conceptualizes histology as a dynamic, morphofunctional science, expanded by the results of electron and confocal microscopy, as well as histochemical and immunohistochemical methods, a science that is a fundamental prerequisite for understanding pathological processes. The presented manual is a very brief extract of the material that cannot replace these textbooks but is intended to facilitate first-year students of general and dental medicine at the medical faculty in reviewing the material covered in lectures and practical exercises. It is also meant to serve as a foundation for the study of microscopic anatomy. These "Fundamentals of Histology" were created as a revised and supplemented translation of the author's older English original "Outlines of Histology," repeatedly published for the needs of foreign students.
