This textbook is intended primarily for undergraduate and graduate students of the social sciences and humanities. A collective work unique in its conception and scope within the Czech context, it is divided into four parts. The first examines politics through the perspectives of numerous disciplines, from political science, philosophy, psychology, anthropology, law, geography and economics to history. The second introduces selected subdisciplines of political science, including comparative politics, international relations theory and public administration. The third presents introductions to quantitative and qualitative methods in political science, including qualitative comparative analysis. The fourth addresses major political themes such as party and electoral systems, nations and nationalism, democracy and nondemocratic regimes. Although the approaches, interpretations and assessments of the individual contributors may differ somewhat, the textbook forms an internally connected whole. The contents are in Czech.
