Beschreibung
This Czech-language book seeks a conceptual framework for understanding visual media, their visuality and perception in situations where humans are neither objects, actors nor addressees. Joanna Zylinska argues that classical theories of photography, focused on indexicality or the conventional human-versus-machine narrative, are no longer useful, and shifts attention to the non-representational aspects of photographic creation. Through them, she presents photography as a life-giving force, a formative life activity and a medium capable of responding adequately to the extreme situation facing humanity and the planet.
