This Czech-language monograph presents the workings of Czechoslovak Airlines across several decades, from its foundation during the First Republic in 1923 to the first year of the independent Czech Republic in 1993. The history of the national airline is primarily examined from the perspective of economic history, while also being placed within the broader contexts of social history, political history and, to some extent, everyday life. Rich in factual detail, the study is based mainly on the first comprehensive examination of an extensive collection of company archives, allowing the continuities and breaks in the organization’s development to be traced over a long period.
