Beschreibung
The publication discusses the architecture of the second half of the 18th century. Its main goal is to examine architecture in Bohemia during this complex period in the context of European architecture, without predetermined stylistic categories and the necessity to follow their 'national story.' The book is divided into three parts. The first deals with the reflection of this period in the professional literature of the 20th and 21st centuries, the second discusses European architecture, and the third addresses trends and influences in Czech architecture. The author focuses primarily on Prague between 1751 and 1790, that is, between the death of K. I. Dientzenhofer, marking the end of the 'great baroque,' and the death of Joseph II, and introduces the richness of types and ideas that refute the established image of this time as a period of decline.
