Beschreibung
This Czech-language dictionary helps readers identify and understand subjects from the Old and New Testaments, whose significance in works of visual art often escapes the wider public today. Alongside biblical figures and events, it includes related iconographic entries such as angels and allegories of virtues and vices. Each entry outlines the biblical events directly connected with the subjects of works of art and provides references to artworks, while a system of cross-references makes the dictionary easy to navigate. A selected bibliography appears at the end. The text is written by art historian Jan Royt, with accompanying drawings by Dagmar Hamsíková.
