Stevie and Nora were in love. They found a kindred spirit in each other, but they had to keep their love a secret. Therefore, they planned to leave their conservative hometown after graduation, abandon their families, and move to California, where they could finally stop hiding. But then an accident happens to Stevie, and when she wakes up in the hospital, she remembers nothing from the last two years – neither California nor Nora. Suddenly, she finds herself in a life she doesn't understand. She doesn't comprehend why her relationship with her parents and friends is strained.
