Beschreibung
A unique illustrated publication 'Chotkové – in the Service of the State' introduces us to this significant old Czech noble family, which, thanks to Václav Antonín Chotek (1674–1754), became one of the politically most important families of the empire. His sons became leading co-creators of Maria Theresa's reforms. Karel Chotek (1783–1868) was the highest burgrave of Prague and had the first embankment and the second bridge over the Vltava built here. He supported the construction of railways, roads, schools, and hospitals. In 1945, the Chotek property was confiscated, and family members were displaced. The history of the Choteks concluded in 1970 with the death of the last family member.
