When a hurricane strikes the eastern coast of the USA, the guards at the Ravenhill correctional facility in Miami decide to abandon the prison. Before doing so, however, they open all the cells to give the inmates at least some chance of survival. Former police officer Jack Constantine, serving ten years for killing one of the murderers of his pregnant wife, is not willing to wait for death – especially when the other two men responsible for his wife's murder are evacuated to the old part of the prison, the Greenhouse. Keira Sawyer is on her first day as a guard and is the only one who couldn't leave in time. Together with Jack, they decide to get to the Greenhouse, which might withstand the fury of the elements. However, this means navigating through all the sections where chaos has erupted and bloody vendettas are taking place between the gangs.
