Folk songs in various forms accompanied composer and educator Pavel Jurkovič throughout his life. The songbook "Folk Songs of My Heart" brings over eighty Czech, Moravian, Silesian, and Slovak folk songs that Jurkovič often and happily used in his teaching. It is intended for parents, children, and teachers of kindergartens and elementary schools, suitable for home music-making as well as for inspiring musical dialogue in schools. It combines a selection of well-known and lesser-known, mostly monophonic songs supplemented with basic accompaniment from Orff instruments. Performers have complete freedom in accompanying the songs, and instruments can be combined according to current possibilities.
