Vlasta Burian, Johnny Weissmüller, Erich Tylínek, Sonja Henie, Lino Ventura, Dick Francis, Bud Spencer, Jurij Vlasov, Josef Nálepa, Toller Cranston. In the order of their birth years, the book contains ten stories of these personalities who dedicated their lives to two seemingly different phenomena: sports and the arts. In both, they achieved great fame on a global scale. For example, we learn in the book that the King of Comedians, Vlasta Burian, was not only a goalkeeper for Prague's Sparta but that he passionately loved sports – at least as much as theater and film. That Erich Tylínek, a hockey goalkeeper and later an excellent photographer, was almost torn apart by an enraged beast in a lion's cage. That Sonja Henie, a phenomenal figure skater and later a Hollywood film star, was at one time an admirer of Adolf Hitler, had an above-average attraction to men, and desired material wealth. That Lino Ventura probably would not have become a famous actor had he not suffered a serious injury as the European wrestling champion.
