Beschreibung
Marie Curie was the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize and the only woman to receive the honour twice, as well as the only person to receive it in two different scientific fields. This Czech-language biography fully reveals both the human and scientific aspects of her life. It describes her turbulent personal story during a time of social upheaval and her struggle for recognition in an era when women scientists were almost unknown. Marie Curie died in 1934 after succumbing to aplastic anaemia, which apparently developed in connection with her scientific research. Her work not only contributed to our understanding of the structure of the atom and therefore the physical nature of the world itself, but also laid the foundations for modern medical innovations such as radiotherapy. Marie Curie continues to inspire millions of people around the world.
