The book "21 Returns to Olympic History" is published in the twenty-first year of the 21st century and recalls some of the countless stories that occurred during and in connection with the Olympics. It tells, among other things, how the first Czech discus thrower won a silver medal in Paris in the last year of the 19th century. How Czechoslovak footballers fared in their Olympic and national debut in Antwerp twenty years later. How seven of our athletes, for whom financial collections had to be organized to participate in the games, brought home four medals from Los Angeles 1932. Why one of our Olympians almost didn't travel to Helsinki 1952 due to his personnel record and who stood up for him. Or what circumstances made the thirty-six-year-old Hungarian gymnast the most successful participant in the Melbourne 1956 games. All the heroes had one thing in common. Each considered their participation in the Summer Olympics the pinnacle of their sporting efforts. An opportunity to measure their strength against the strongest competitors, a desire to win the most valuable medals. But they are also stories about human solidarity, friendship, and mutual tolerance.
