Harrison Foster is a lawyer specializing in crisis management. After a fire at trainer Ryan Chadwick's stables, which claims the lives of six very valuable horses, including the Derby favorite, he is called from London to Newmarket. Harry discovers that it was likely not an ordinary fire, and human remains are also found at the scene. No employees are missing, so who is the burned victim? Harry knows very little about horses; in fact, he doesn't like them, but he is unwittingly drawn into a world where thoroughbred horse stars receive more attention than people. The Chadwicks are a racing dynasty with dysfunctional family relationships.
