Cliff Hubbard is an outsider. His nickname in high school, Happy Valley, is Neanderthal because he is huge — nearly two meters tall and weighing over a hundred kilos. He has no friends at school, and home is no picnic either. Quite the opposite. Ever since his older brother committed suicide, everything has been going downhill. There is no one in the entire high school that Cliff dislikes more than the popular quarterback Aaron Zimmerman. But this year is supposed to change everything. Aaron gets seriously injured and returns from the hospital with a completely crazy story. He claims that at the moment of near death, he saw God, who gave him a list of things that need to be radically changed at Happy Valley High School. And only one person can help him with that – the Neanderthal. To his own surprise, Cliff agrees, and as they work through the list together, Cliff feels for the first time since his brother's death that he is truly part of something...
