Beschreibung
The monograph about one of the oldest Czech noble families is intended for the general public interested in the history of the nobility, history in general, and the history of castles and chateaus. The Kolowrat family produced dozens of significant personalities who left their mark on Czech and Central European history. Among them are Hanuš II. Libštejnský of Kolowrat, a soldier and later a cleric who proclaimed a papal interdict against King George of Poděbrady in 1469, the prominent politician of the Jagiellonian period Albrecht II. Libštejnský of Kolowrat, or the imperial envoy Franz Karl I. From the Krakowská branch of the Kolowrat family comes, for example, the great patriot of the 19th century Count Hanuš or the well-known filmmaker, aviator, and motorist Count Saša. The legacy of the generous donors from the Kolowrat family can be found, for example, in the National Museum or the National Gallery. The Kolowrat collection of paintings is among the most valuable in our country. The Kolowrats are associated with the castles of Krakovec, Libštejn, Krašov, or surprisingly, Karlštejn, as well as the chateaus of Rychnov nad Kněžnou, Velké Dvorce, Sloup, or Nový Hrad near Jimlín, and several palaces in Prague.
