The monograph addresses the issue of environmental security, which has been little explored in Slovak science so far, and it is an extremely important topic with far-reaching and serious consequences. The aim of the monograph is to contribute to the scientific debate on this topic in both the field of social sciences (especially security studies) and international law. Therefore, it has been conceived as a multidisciplinary work with a holistic approach. Thematically, it is divided into three large parts. The first part focuses on the security aspects of climate change, which are presented at three levels – the impact on the individual, on the security of states, and finally on international politics. The second part deals with the international legal regulation of environmental security. The subject of investigation is not only the possibilities of environmental protection through international law norms but also how environmental degradation affects these rights (for example, human rights) and influences their development.
