After the release of two volumes of the critically acclaimed book title From the Well of Native Language (2005, 2014), readers now have in their hands the 3rd part of this successful book collection. The current work is a representative selection of texts published mainly in the column From the Well of Native Language in the magazine Culture of Words from the period of 2012 – 2021. The presented, thematically organized contributions bring closer the scientifically processed vocabulary recorded mainly in the archival collections of the Card Index of the Dictionary of Slovak Dialects and the Historical Dictionary of the Slovak Language, as well as in the database and card index of field names stored in the Ľudovít Štúr Institute of Linguistics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The publication offers new, inexhaustible, and diverse material to a wide audience in a reader-friendly form. The individual articles represent the application of theoretical knowledge from the research of richly differentiated Slovak dialects, as well as the application of knowledge from the history of the vocabulary of Slovak, thus bringing to the forefront not only the dialectal and historical diversity of the national language but also the customs, cultural traditions, and the knowledge or wit of older generations.
