The monograph deals with one of the genres of children's literature (literature for children and youth) – contemporary authored fairy tales published between 2000 and 2020 in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. The author uses a comparative method and analysis of works to track developmental shifts in the genre of authored fairy tales in both national literatures. The publication selectively focuses on the most prominent types of authored fairy tales and is divided into four parts: folklore-influenced fairy tales, diary and calendar fairy tales, lyrical and rhythmic fairy tales, humorous and nonsensical fairy tales. However, due to the mixing of various literary genres, this is only an indicative and approximate classification.
