The book focuses on the question of what methods could be used to achieve comparability of test versions in high-stakes examinations, and thus comparability and fairness in interpreting the results of these examinations. The research was conducted on didactic tests used in the Slovak maturity exam in English at the B1 level in receptive skills tests conducted in the spring terms of 2012–2015. The theoretical analysis of available methods and the application of some of them to the mentioned test versions showed that it is possible to find and apply methods that not only highlight problematic areas in the development of test versions but also allow for achieving comparability of test versions. This can help ensure that the interpretation of results for students taking exams at different times is comparable, fair, and valid, meaning that the results meaningfully reflect the measured construct, i.e., the level of students' language proficiency.
