Beschreibung
The memories of Karel Engliš accompany us from the year 1900, when the author first met T. G. Masaryk, to 1937, the year in which Masaryk passed away. Engliš experienced a peak stage of his life as a scientist and economist alongside the first president of Czechoslovakia. He contributed to the founding of Masaryk University, became its first rector, was appointed Minister of Finance by Masaryk six times, and in 1934 became the governor of the National Bank of Czechoslovakia. The relationship between these two personalities was extraordinary, marked by mutual respect and admiration. The evidence of the remarkable relationship between these notable figures is preserved by Masaryk University in the form of insignia – a medal and the rector's chain.
