The publication addresses the topic of supporting foreign children in education, viewed from both Czech and Norwegian perspectives. The ambition of the monograph is to provide inspiration or feedback to academics, teachers, and educational policymakers, while also shedding light on the practices of a more experienced country in supporting foreign children in education. The author divided the text into two parts; the first discusses the key topic from the perspective of theoretical foundations and available pedagogical research. The second part focuses on presenting the author's own research, examining the topic from three levels: state, regional, and school. The research was designed as a qualitative comparative study based on content analysis and case studies of Czech and Norwegian primary schools. The main result of the conducted research is the creation of a model for supporting the school adaptation of foreign children. This model emphasizes the need to strengthen the collaboration between schools and foreign parents in both the Czech and Norwegian contexts. It also highlights the regional level as a crucial intermediary that mediates information, knowledge, and needs between the state and school levels in the described topic.
