Beschreibung
In the monograph "Czech Problematic Drama of the 1960s," literary scholar and educator David Kroča (1973) from Masaryk University explores a period that is, in many ways, pivotal for the poetics of original Czech drama. From the genre-diverse theatrical production of the 1960s, he has chosen a specific line of so-called problematic drama for his research, in which authors replace the usual dramatic conflict with an intensified confrontation of various opinions on the established problem. The introductory theoretical and contextual chapters take into account the developmental trends of the time in Czech drama as well as important foreign sources of inspiration. The core of the work consists of analytical and interpretative chapters that analyze those plays in which authors address serious existential problems and pose questions of social and moral responsibility.
