Kritika v pohybu - Literární kritika a metakritika 90. let 20. století – Lollok Marek (2019)

The monograph "Criticism in Motion. Literary Criticism and Metacriticism of the 1990s" is based on the author's dissertation of the same name defended in 2018 at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University: it deals with Czech literary criticism of the 1990s, particularly in the form it manifested in the literary and cultural magazines of the time. In eight chapters (including a methodological introduction and a synthesizing conclusion), it presents the most significant trends of that period's highly dynamic thinking about literature in a broad context, including its contemporary reflection (metacriticism). Specifically, the subjects of examination include, for example, retrospective and anticipatory views on Czech literature, "postmodern" criticism, Catholic, Christian, or spiritual criticism, and the so-called authenticity disputes; selected responses to prose books are also analyzed separately. Overall, the publication presents a coherent, vivid picture of the literary-critical and metacritical efforts of the observed period, with many of the themes identified in the contemporary discussion proving to be relevant even today.
