Beschreibung
Jaroslav Střítecký is a Czech musicologist, aesthetician, sociologist, and historian. His texts and pedagogical activities cover a range of thematic areas: Central European modernism, Russian formalism, structuralism, French post-structuralism, the Frankfurt School, and more. The core of the presented volume consists of studies discussing Wilhelm Dilthey (1833–1911). Although his texts could be interpreted culturally-historically, the author primarily aims for a philosophical interpretation. The other articles in the volume, while seemingly thematically distant, also develop Dilthey's motifs. Kantian inspirations manifest in the publication both in the analysis of Enlightenment concepts of women and family, as well as in the interpretation of the Central European tradition of aesthetic formalism. The culmination of the philosophy of history and sociological theory in the philosophy of language and the theory of communicative action is represented by the analysis of the most important texts of Jürgen Habermas and Karl-Otto Apel.
