What do mini-kindergartens, dog hotels, handyman services, agencies providing care for the elderly, children, or households have in common? They are entities selling services that were until recently performed out of love – meaning, for free – by the members of households themselves. The book 'Care for Sale' addresses the current trend of shifting the tasks of so-called social reproduction from the private sphere of families and households into the public market environment. The authors present findings from qualitative research that focused on the creation of the supply of these services and their presentation to clients. The perspective of the providers, namely the owners of these agencies, is very interesting. It offers insight into the thinking and practices of people who actively steer the train of the marketization of our lives.
