The monograph summarizes the main outputs of research supported by the GAČR agency titled Health-Promoting and Health-Threatening Behaviors: Determinants, Models, Consequences. It integrates five studies divided into individual chapters that address the issue of the relationships between components of health-related behavior and selected personality characteristics, constructs of optimism and pessimism, hope, ontogenesis, and neuropsychological phenomena. The presented findings and derived conclusions contribute not only to a deeper theoretical understanding of the observed relationships but also to the practical support of self-regulatory mechanisms for readers leading to care for their own health. The publication is intended for the professional public, thematically addressing primarily experts and students in the fields of psychology, healthcare, pedagogy, and other social sciences, who are close to the issues of human health.
