The monograph deals with hierarchical systems of lexical units, particularly in scientific terminologies. It includes the results of research from the dissertation Lexical Hierarchies in Scientific Terminology, supplemented by a broad introduction to the typology of lexical and semantic relationships and an overview of various branched and unbranched hierarchies, series, and other lexical configurations. The work analyzes the principles of creating terminological classification hierarchies and identifies semantic relationships between superordinate and subordinate terms as well as between terms at the same level. Specific morphological and onomatological properties of different languages influence the systematic nature of the resulting lexical hierarchies, although the conceptual systems coincide.
