Beschreibung

A collection of internally connected studies by the recently deceased pioneer of Czech literary Slavic studies and literary comparatism, the internationally recognized researcher and representative of the Czech and International Committee of Slavists, Slavomír Wollman (1925–2012), which focuses on the relationships of Czech, Slovak, Polish, and Sorbian literature to other literatures in Central Europe, particularly to German and Austrian literature, but also to other Slavic literatures within the Mediterranean cultural complex, interliterariness, and general literature. The work builds on the author's book studies 'Porovnávacia metóda v literárnej vede' (1988) and 'Česká škola literární komparatistiky' (1989) and on the concepts of his father, Frank Wollman, and his comparative studies starting with 'Slovesnosť Slovanů' (1928) and ending with 'Slavismy a antislavismy za jara národů' (1968). It is supplemented by an interview with the author conducted by Anna Zelenková and a bibliography of his works. The publication is primarily intended for literary scholars, comparatists, general philologists, Slavists, historians, cultural scientists, and students.
