Beschreibung
The book emerged as a result of an intense interest in research in the area of social identity formation, which has connected a number of researchers and their activities at the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University in Brno over the past few years. In connection with the crisis of legitimacy and the collapse of the social order of communist societies in Central and Eastern Europe, there has been not only a transformation of systems and institutions but also a reconstruction of social identities. This process of social identity formation is worthy of attention because it can create not only an internally experienced, subjective conflict of diverse social identities but can also articulate inter-group, social, and cultural conflicts.
