Beschreibung
Paolo Giordano's fifth novel, Tasmania, can be classified as autofiction. Its narrator and main character is a physicist who makes a living writing, currently working on a novel about the atomic bomb while experiencing several crises: a midlife crisis, a marital crisis, a creative crisis, and simultaneously a climate crisis, a social crisis, in short, a crisis of our world. We follow his life's struggles over approximately seven years, from the terrorist attack on the Paris Bataclan to the retreat of the COVID epidemic. Seven years characterized by both the frenetic acceleration of life, technological development, polarization of opinions and society, as well as paralysis, stagnation, and the need for contact that is not just virtual.
