Tucker (1954–2011) was an American political scientist and one of the world's leading experts on chemical and biological weapons. After studying at Yale University, he earned a bachelor's degree in biology and then a Ph.D. in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, focusing on defense and disarmament issues. After completing his studies, he worked as a disarmament specialist for the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, and also for the U.S. Department of State.
