FROM THE BATTLE OF KURSK TO OPERATION BAGRATION The author of the presented book on the course of World War II in Europe on the so-called "Eastern Front" provides an overview of the conduct of strategic military engagements in which the victory of the Soviet army was decided on this battlefield. He deals with the period from the Battle of Kursk to the end of Operation Bagration. The book describes this period primarily from a military perspective, highlighting the most important military operations and also presenting brief biographies of the main actors in the battles. However, it does not focus solely on purely military operations but also touches on broader political-military issues, albeit to a lesser extent, which are narrowed down to the described period and region. These relate to the relationships between Germany and its allies and, in the most general terms, also to the diplomatic activities of the USSR. Selected chapters also include a basic overview of economic-military issues related to weapon production, aiming to highlight changes in the production of both warring states – on one side with the depletion of German resources and on the other side with the strengthening Red Army.
