Midwife Cecilie Lundová reconnects with an old acquaintance in hopes that it will help her regain her lost balance and gather strength – both physical and mental. Although there is currently relative calm on the home front, the adolescence of her oldest daughter Sofia is no fairy tale, and dark clouds are gathering over Cecilie’s work. The private maternity clinic Victoria, where Cecilie works, is threatened with closure, and that is far from the worst of it. A shocking brutal act occurs at the clinic, and shortly thereafter, the dead body of a young doctor is found in her immediate vicinity. Could the two crimes be related? When a medical student who apparently knew something about the murder disappears without a trace, Cecilie can no longer stand idly by and embarks on her own investigation.
