The third, revised edition of the book discusses the relationship between nature and culture in a broad context - is the cultural process opposed to the natural one, or is it much more a "continuation of nature by other means"? It primarily draws on the concepts of C. G. Jung and A. Portmann, who see a common root of creativity in both human and natural realms, which is a perspective remarkably close to how classical China perceived nature and society within the context of European thought.
