Beschreibung
Ernst Jünger published his study The Worker: Hegemony and Figure in 1932. It is one of his fundamental essayistic texts and reflects his historical, philosophical, and political thinking, which developed in response to the experiences of World War I and the post-war social context not only in Germany. In Jünger's portrayal, the worker is stripped of his traditional socio-economic relationships and emerges in his dehistoricized role as an independently acting entity that shapes a new reality. His claim to hegemony over society, the economy, and the state, according to Jünger, lies in his natural relationship to power. Other themes the author addresses include work as a way of life and technology as a means by which the figure of the worker mobilizes the world.
