Beschreibung
This Czech-language book by Polish historian Maciej Górny offers a comparative insight into post-war Czech, Slovak, Polish and German historiography. It examines Marxist historiography in the individual countries of Central Europe after 1945, the relationship between Marxist historians and the traditions of nineteenth-century national historiographies, and their interpretations of national history. The author considers the similarities and differences among interpretations of national histories and places them within the broader context of Central European realities. He also explores the institutional background of historians in the countries concerned and the gradual process of Stalinisation in Central European historiography.
