Beschreibung
The publication is divided into two parts. The first part is dedicated to explaining basic concepts from mineralogy and geology and outlining the geological processes during which minerals form. It lists the basic types of geological environments, communities of minerals, and sources of industrially utilized minerals. The introductory section of the book contains three overview tables with the basic types of rocks and their characteristics. The second, main part of the book is an overview of minerals arranged alphabetically, primarily those that are most widespread in nature, as well as minerals that have practical applications in industry. Several collector-worthy minerals are also included. For each type of mineral, its composition, description, uses (if any), and its main occurrences in the Czech Republic and worldwide are provided. Most minerals are presented with two or more photographs.
