Beschreibung
The book offers readers interviews with prominent Czech scientists that were published over several years in the Czechoslovak Journal of Physics. The publication opens with an interview with the chairwoman of the Czech Academy of Sciences and biochemist Prof. Eva Zažímalová and concludes with an interview with the notable popularizer of astronomy Ing. Daniel Stach. The other 13 interviews primarily focus on physics, astronomy, astrophysics, mathematics, and related fields. The interviews themselves are presented as biographical and address important life situations that shaped the scientific careers of the interviewed researchers. They do not merely describe the significant scientific achievements of these personalities but strive to offer a holistic view of the scientific work and life of each scientist. They introduce their initial ideas and goals when entering the scientific world, remind us of their visions, and showcase the 'joys and sorrows' that accompany scientific life, as well as how scientific work shaped and guided each of them.
