Beschreibung
The proceedings contain papers from the sixth international conference on Italian operas in Bohemia in the 18th century, held in September 2020 under the title L’opera italiana – tra l'originale e il pasticcio. The practice of so-called pasticci, i.e., operas that a local theater impresario typically assembled from successful arias of already performed operas based on a theatrically appealing theme, was a unique phenomenon of Italian opera in the 18th century. At a time when copyright did not yet exist, this practice was common. Twelve contributions from European researchers focus on the performance of pasticci across Europe. Milada Jonášová describes the practice in Prague, while Tomislav Volek compares this genre then and now.
